PROFESSIONAL REFINISH SYSTEM

Vehicolor Epoxy Primer is high-performance epoxy primer and delivers exceptional corrosion resistance, chemical protection, and superior adhesion, ensuring excellent isolation properties. Specially formulated for bare metal surfaces, it provides outstanding rust prevention and adheres strongly to steel, aluminum, and galvanized steel.

Epoxy Primer

Substrates

Can be applied over properly prepared steel, weathered galvanized steel, hot-dip galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and existing 2K finishes in good condition. All surfaces must be sanded as recommended and thoroughly degreased with Vehicolor degreaser before application.


Surface Preparation


Steel Substrates

Blast cleaning, or

Mechanical sanding with P80–P180 grit, followed by degreasing with Vehicolor degreaser.


Galvanized Steel (Weathered/Exposed)

Degrease with Vehicolor degreaser

Sand with P180–P320 grit

Re-degrease


Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel

Degrease

Fine abrasion with P320 or finer grit

Re-degrease


Stainless Steel

Degrease

Profile with P180–P240 grit

Re-degrease


Aluminum

Light sanding with P240–P320

Final degreasing


Existing 2K Finishes (in good condition)

Light sanding with P320–P400

Re-degrease


Mixing Ratio

By volume: 3 parts epoxy primer, 1 part hardener, 1–1.5 parts thinner

By weight: 4 parts epoxy primer, 1 part hardener, 1–1.5 parts thinner


Pot Life

4 hours at 23°C after mixing


Spray Gun Tips

Nozzle: 1.7–1.8 mm

Conventional: 3.0–3.5 bar (45–50 psi)

HVLP: 2 bar (30 psi)


Spray Method

Application viscosity: 16–18 seconds (DIN Cup 4 at 23°C)

Apply 2–3 coats, total film thickness 25–30 μm

Flash-off time between coats: 5–10 minutes at 23°C


Drying Time

24 hours at 15°C

12 hours at 23°C

60 minutes at 60°C


Sanding

Dry sand after the coat becomes fully dry and solid using P600–P800 grit.


Shelf Life

2 years in unopened containers stored in cool, dry conditions.
